220KV and 132 KV subsection visit on 30th January 2018

The IV semester Architecture students of Gateway College of Architecture and Design, Sonipat visited the 220KV and 132 KV electrical sub-station at fazilpur, Sonipat on 30th January 2018. The purpose of this site visit was to make the students understand and acquainted with the power transmission and power distribution system and give them a hands-on exposure. As a part of the syllabus this site visit fall under part of our teaching philosophy where we connect the students with the other discipline to understand the contribution of another discipline. As an architecture students they got an exposure of the substation as the immediate source of electrical energy which we use at the household level to perform our everyday activity. The technical staff of the substation explained the power distribution process, working process of step down transformer, the safety measures, surface cable trenches, details of transformer platform, and conducted an walk tour within the premises as well as the panel room. The students also express their involvement during the site visits by taking notes and they have interacted with the faculty team with their robust inquisitiveness.
