GCAD – 4 th Convocation, 2018

The Fourth Convocation of the Gateway College of Architecture and Design,Sonepat was held
on Saturday, 21 st April 2018 at the Gatyeway Campus
The Chief Guest for the Convocation was the Hon’bleVice Chancellor of DCRUST Murthal,
Prof (DR) Rajendra Kumar Anayath , and the Guest of Honor Prof. AGK Menon. Other
dignitaries present on the occasion were our Chairman, Mr. H.P. Mangla, Executive Chairman,
Mr. Rakesh Aggrawal and other members of the Gateway family Mr Rahul Mangla, Mr Sahil
Aggarwal, Ms Soumya Aggarwal, MS Priyanka Mangla
This year a total of about 100 students graduated for the Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
The Convocation began with an academic procession followed by the lighting of the lamp by the
guests and dignitaries.
After the principal declared the convocationopen and welcomed everyone for the prestigious
ceremony, the students were addressed by the Guest of Honor Prof. AGK Menon. Prof. Menon
who illuminated the students with his words of wisdom. Playing a role of an eminent architect-
planner and conservationist he shared his knowledge and experiences with the students. His
speech was followed by the address of the Chief Guest, Prof. (DR.) Rajendra Kumar Anayath.
Prof.Anayath talked about the duties of an architect. He also focused on the need of sustainable
development. In their brief and captivating address they inspired the graduands, students and
faculty of the Institute.
The principal, Prof. Anurag Roy took charge of presenting the degrees. The graduands were
awarded their degrees by the Chief Guest followed by the pledge administered by Prof. Ratindra
Bhattacharya.
The Convocation ended with a Vote of Thanks by Prof. BikramjitChakrobartyfollowed by the
National Anthem after which the academic procession left the premises.
