GUEST LECTURE BY AR. ARUNJOT BHALLA AT GATEWAY
Gateway College of Architecture and Design, Sonepat organized a guest lecture on 31st October’18 by an eminent architect Arunjot Bhalla. He is a 1988 graduate of Chandigarh College of Architecture and a 1994 Postgraduate in Architecture Studies from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. In his extensive 26 years’ experience as a Design Professional in India and abroad, he has worked on a wide range of projects ranging from mixed-use developments to IT Campuses, commercial, retail, residential developments, and interiors. Presently he is leading RSP Group as Executive Director. The company provides architecture, planning and engineering services. It offers master planning, building design, urban design, interior design, landscape design, feasibility studies and analysis, MEP engineering, electro-mechanical engineering, infrastructure planning, and civil and structural engineering services.
In his address to the students, he focused on the projects delivered in India by the company. He talked about their ideology of ‘Towards a Glocal Architecture Expression’. He showed the projects like IT Park in Bangalore, Microsoft Campus in Hyderabad, SAP Leonardo Centre by ITC, ITC Green Centre Bangalore and The Oberoi Gurgaon. Through the examples of these projects, he explained to the students how to work for sustainability through innovative design. He focused on the importance of imagination rather than being restricted on the computer screens for designing. All these projects showcased concept and design philosophy, sustainability, structural technology, and dynamic interiors.
The students participated in an interactive session. They were inspired by the presentation.
