NSS CELL AND WOMEN OUTREACH ACTIVITY CENTRE ORGANISED AN AWARENESS SESSION

Self-Defence Awareness and Training Session Held at Gateway Education, Sonipat

The NSS Cell and Women Outreach Activity Centre (WORC) of Gateway Education, Sonipat, jointly organized an Awareness Session on Self-Defence to empower women with essential safety skills and self-confidence. The programme witnessed active participation from girl students, women staff, Group-D employees, and NSS volunteers, who actively contributed to the successful execution of the event.

The programme commenced with a unique and energetic welcome of the Chief Guest through the traditional NSS Clap, performed by the NSS volunteers, followed by the formal welcome of the dignitaries by Mr. Ashish Aggarwal, NSS Programme Officer, along with Dr. Amita Gandhi, Head – WORC. The session began on a patriotic note with the rendition of Vande Mataram.

The event was conducted under the guidance of Mr. Ajay Kumar, Dean Students Welfare. The session was graced by the Chief Guest, Inspector Kavita, Station House Officer (SHO), Women Police Station, Sonipat, who delivered an insightful keynote address emphasizing the importance of self-defence, personal safety, and confidence among women.

Subsequently, a hands-on practical self-defence training session was conducted by trained police constables, who demonstrated simple and effective techniques for self-protection and emergency situations. The interactive session was highly appreciated by the participants, while NSS volunteers assisted in coordination, discipline, and participant management throughout the programme.

The programme concluded with the National Anthem, marking a dignified end to the event. Overall, the self-defence awareness and training session proved to be a meaningful initiative towards promoting women empowerment, safety awareness, and self-reliance at Gateway Education, Sonipat.
