BUILDINGS FOR TOMORROW - AN INTELLIGENT ENTITY
Anil Chotmarada
Architecture at the macro and micro levels, especially in developing countries is rather primitive, generating an inefficient lifestyle. The advent of user friendly electronics hails an era of intelligent building in which the physical entities enclosing usable spaces anticipate the needs of the users and respond correspondingly. Tomorrow’s buildings will need to respect energy consciousness in its entirety - bringing together the work / living / recreational spaces besides using effectively the natural energy resources. Buildings in the future will have to be machines which generate virtual reality thus giving a new dimension to behavioral systems retaining the desirable social components while making living and working an issue of joy, ease and efficiency. Intelligent buildings , in the days to come , will be managed mechanically , be provided safety and security from all elements through sophisticated aids , and will be able to adjust to any external and internal demand. It would do well for our planners and designers who are responsible for the creation of the future environment for human usage to appreciate the contribution of mechanical aids in the proficient working of the built environment and its consequent changes to the life styles of users.
