Professor Anil Kumar has started the Gateway College of Architecture and Design with Mr. Rakesh Aggarwal in 2008 after retiring from D.C.R University of Science and Technology. Professor Anil is a graduate of Chandigarh College of Architecture. After graduating in 1972 and getting professional experience of 3 years he started teaching in his alma mater from 1975. In 1982 he got a chance to set up a new College of Architecture in Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria. He returned to CCA in 1984.

In 1992 he got the opportunity of starting the first government architecture college for Haryana in Murthal. He retired from Murthal in 2008 as Dean, Architecture when he started Gateway college of Architecture. Professor Anil is a senior architectural academic administrator, member of a COA advisory body, Fellow of Indian Institute of Architecture and the Chairman of Sonipat chapter of INTACH. He is widely travelled and believes in using technology where it can be used.
