Facilities
Our laboratories are well equipped with modern and latest equipments. We are having different laboratories related to our course and classes which as follows:
Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory
This Laboratory has the machines and equipment to conduct various experiments for students to satisfy the academic curriculum. The laboratory is also used for consultancy works of private bodies to test the soil samples obtained from the field to identify and classify the soils, assess the strength and compressibility characteristics of the soil, estimate the safe bearing capacity and settlement of soil in the field. The laboratory is also equipped to assess suitability of soil for usage as a construction material in embankments and dams.
Surveying Lab
Surveying lab facilitates the students with various opportunities to learn the art of land surveying. The technique requires to accurately determine the terrestrial or three-dimensional position of points and the distances and angles between them. These points are usually on the surface of the Earth, and they are often used to establish land maps and boundaries for ownership or governmental purposes. To accomplish the objective, surveyors use elements of mathematics (geometry and trigonometry), physics, engineering and law.
Geology Lab
Geology helps us determine the properties of different earth materials, processes and structures within a plate tectonics framework, origin and structure of the earth, rocks and minerals, geologic time, fossils and evolution, earthquakes and volcanoes, ocean basins, formation of landscapes, special topics etc.
It also helps the students to learn how to recognize earth materials, features, and structures. Identification of common rocks and minerals are thus used in preparing topographic and geologic maps.
Concrete Technology Lab
Knowledge of this subject and its experiments is essential for the design of concrete structures. Strength, workability, durability and cost are the four important characteristics of concrete The durability of the structures depends upon the care with which ingredients of concrete are selected, mixed, placed, compacted and cured. Concrete is used for the construction of building, concrete roads, gravity dams, retaining walls, water tanks, airport runway pavements etc. The information regarding various properties of concrete in its plastic stage as well as hardened stage can be determined through the experiments control.
Fluid Mechanics Laboratory
A laboratory in which the principles of fluid mechanics are applied to civil engineering problems. The design and implementation of a laboratory facilitates research study, analysis of data, the presentation of results and development of engineering conclusions. Lab include hydrostatics, pipe-flow, open channel flow, flow measurement and resistance to flow as well as pressure testing of pipes and pumps.
Transportation Engineering Lab
This lab helps the students to assess the physical behavior of different construction materials that are used in transportation engineering such as aggregates, bitumen’s, their strength, durability, binding property, their behavior against different type of loads, and different environmental conditions. A well equipped transportation lab gives the students a luxury to correlate the different structure materials and learn their physical properties so as to use the best available materials among the given options.
Structural Analysis Laboratory
The aim of the structural analysis laboratory is to model the structural systems in the engineering sense and observe their mechanical behaviors. This lab includes the study-behavior analysis of different structural elements such as beams, trusses, arches, cables etc. It helps the students to determine the maximum load that a structure can resist and the suitable form which can be presented to the particular structure.
