About Us: (GIET-KRC) Knowledge Resource Centre

GIET-Knowledge Resource Centre (Library) was established in 2009. KRC has a wide collection of books, periodicals, e-resources etc. It has more than 24,800 books of Engineering, Management, Computer Applications, Computer Science & AI/ML domain etc. with more than 4530 titles and has subscribed more than 54 print periodicals. It has also subscribed to EResources (DELNET and NDLI). GIET-KRC is fully air conditioned and has separate E-learning section with internet connectivity for accessing e-resources & other sites of user’s interest. It is fully automated with KOHA software system. GIET-KRC has separate facility of Book-Bank with more than 13,000 books, under which books are issued to the students for entire semester.

Users and Staff

Registered Members (Student, Faculty & Staff) are permitted to issue books for home study.

Circulation Rules

  • Periodicals and magazines must be read in the library only. It will not be borrowed. Old popular magazines may be issued to the user for 3 days only & as per availability.
  • Reference books can only be borrowed overnight after getting permission from the librarian.
  • Student can borrow a maximum of 03 books for a period of 14 days. If the book is not returned on the due date, fine will be applicable as per norms. An overdue (fine) of Rs.2/- per day per book will be charged continued.
  • All enrolled students are the members of the book bank. Book bank books issued via must be returned to the KRC within 14 days after end semester examination. A fine of Rs.2 (per day per book) shall be imposed in case of late submission.
  • Faculty members can borrow a maximum of 06 books per semester.
  • Administrative & non-teaching staff can borrow a maximum of 03 books per semester.
  • Renewal of issued books is mandatory for all faculty & staff members after completion of end semester examination.
  • Students are not permissible for photocopying of their personal documents in the KRC.
  • The KRC reserves the right to recall any book issued to the borrower, even before the due date of return, if necessary.
  • At the end of every academic session, students must obtain a 'No Dues Certificate' from the librarian.
  • Borrowers are responsible for safely returning the books to the KRC. In case of damage/lost/theft will have to replace the lost book with a new book or have to pay the double cost of the lost book, otherwise book will not be issued for the next semester.
  • Stealing or damaging KRC property or misbehavior with KRC staff will be considered as act of indiscipline and will result in disciplinary action which may include fines and cancellation of KRC membership, expulsion from college rolls as the case may be.
  • The KRC staff is authorized to check the bags and belongings of any member, if required.
  • Non-members or visitors are not permitted to sit in KRC without the permission of the librarian.
  • College identity card must be shown by the borrower at counter while issuing the books.
  • KRC personnel’s reserves the right for taking decisions in case of emergency.

Reading Section Rules

  1. Users are required to sign the attendance register while using the reading section.
  2. The reading section is available for all students, faculty, and staff of the college.
  3. Newspapers, magazines, journals, reference books, and competitive exam materials are provided for reading inside the library.
  4. No books, journals, or newspapers from the reading section can be issued or taken outside the library.
  5. Silence must be maintained at all times inside the reading section.
  6. Mobile phones must be switched off / kept on silent mode. Talking on the phone is strictly prohibited.
  7. Eating, drinking, or sleeping in the reading section is not permitted.
  8. Respect others’ study time; avoid group discussions, loud reading, or disturbing behavior.
  9. The library staff has the authority to check belongings if necessary.
  10. All users are expected to follow discipline and maintain decorum inside the reading section.
  11. Readers should not scribble on table tops or damage them.
  12. The seats are to be used / occupied on the first come first served basis.
